The Victorian ombudsman has criticised the Department of Human Services (DHS) for placing a child into the care of a convicted sex offender. The DHS was repeatedly warned about the possibility of abuse to the child, but failed to act. The ombudsman's annual report identifies numerous problems with Victoria's child protection services. In one example, a child was placed in the care of a convicted sex offender, even though the child said they had been abused by this person in the past. The ombudsman also found some DHS staff members do not know how to conduct basic checks on carers.

Being locked up is no picnic, to be sure, and people in prison have to learn to do without the small comforts of life on the outside. But, thanks to books and movies about prison life, it’s pretty well-known that inmates have an endless capacity for invention. The empty peanut butter jar or used Popsicle stick that anyone else would throw away becomes a valuable tool in prison. Most of these items are considered contraband and would be confiscated if found, but that doesn’t stop inmates from recycling and repurposing the materials at hand to create some truly astonishing items.
What I am saying that, in practical terms, the US has never been serious against the Israeli settlements, and gave Israel the support needed through different channels other than the mass media. The US extends financial, economic, military, political and diplomatic assistance to Israel, and if she was serious we could have seen practical steps against Israel.

Soaring from its master’s arm, the mighty bird wheels high overhead, then dives like an arrow from the apex of its arc. On the plain floor, the lone wolf glances back while continuing its faltering trot onwards. Without warning, the giant raptor appears out of the sky, hitting its target at high velocity while clawing and raking with razor-sharp talons. The wolf bites back at its far more lightweight attacker and for a brief instant the bird of prey appears prone – but in an instant, it lunges back at its canine quarry, fixing it in an iron grip
