I personally believe there are a few groups who pull the major strings in the world economy. Beyond that i can only speculate, but its naive to not think that someone since the industrial revolution has consolidated enough money, and thus power, to be able to move governments in their favor. Money is power and there will always be some at the top, be they secret boys clubs or families.

Depends on what kind of research is being done. In genetics, the similarity in genome and the short lifespan of the rat is appreciated because results to modifications and growth can be observed faster and more easilt be applied to humans. For what use the dogs are i dont know but i trust there is a reason to it. We are very detail-oriented in labs and always try to find the optimal conditions for any experiments/tests/analysis being done.
One of the things that scares me bout religion is the fact that you wont get anywhere in power unless you toe the religious line, this is prevalent in all countries around the world, so to get in power you need to believe in fairy tales. Im hoping this movie will be good. I liked thor,iron man 2 and captain america even though i despise the former two characters. The lead in to the avengers was done pretty good and reminds me of being a kid reading multiple comics leading into one big summer event that ranges 20+ titles and hundreds of characters. DC could possibly make bank off of a similar thing with the Justice League franchise. Lots of gold could be produced from them thar hills if they werent so insistent on going after the pyrite instead.

Im gonna study to be an engineer, go on an offshore oil-platform and be on 2 weeks and off 4 weeks. Ill earn about 50000 to 100000 pound a year i think. Thankfully, the norwegian oil industry is lacking about 4000 engineers last time i checked.
good move, but be prepared for pain. lots and lots of pain. Engineering is no picnic. You're a bit optimistic with the 2 week on 4 week off thing. More like 4weeks on 1week off, or maybe they do it differently in scandiland, doubt it tho. Have you ever done a 7 day week? I just finished an 7 day, 85 hour week (not even exaggerating a little). It is hell. I'm in civil construction, all day in the sun dealing with bogans, then evenings stuck in an office with paperwork. I heard industrial engineering is even worse.
worth it tho. there is no doubt to the worth of your work. concrete, steel, oil, and dirt. Prime movers. Delivering in a big way.
12 hours each day, less on weekends. No, regulations say we cant stay any more than that, if we do we get mad bonuses, most peeps would love to go overtime a few extra weeks actually. Also, i guess youve never been around our parts, there is no sun here. Just cold black oceans. I know more than a few guys who do the work there, they say its awesome. I can definitely work myself to the bone, nothing motivates me like large numbers on my bankroll. When i had over one and a half year off, instead of sitting on my ass i got a position as a practitioner at a lab in another city, i worked normal 8-4 hours for the same money i would have gotten if i just sat on my ass. I actually worked for free, getting a small sum from the state, just doing it for the extra experience.
