Step 2: Get money from somewhere else to fund their public sector.
And I am having problems with step 2. Who's gonna lend them money, considering their debt and their risk of default ?
I see one option - they get kicked out of EU, they get their currency back, huge inflation, they print more money to fund public sector (because nobody is going to lend them any money), they get MORE AUSTERITY, inflation and misery for years.
Or they could try communism or something ?
1. Refuse austerity 2. Leave EU 3. ?????? 4. Profit
Good read. It's true. I can't seem to get my head around this idea the Tories are running that they can't borrow more and put money into the ailing economy. It seems to throw everything I've ever known about a recession on it's head. Cameron should stop seeing the government as a business. It also makes no sense that a short term borrowing to boost the economy is a massive problem and going to undo all the hard work they've been doing (destroying the nation, no less) since the problem, undoubtedly, is structural deficit... which borrowing and spending their way out of the recession ISN'T part of a structural deficit.
Also, pushing people back into work? Into which jobs are they supposed to go to?
There's no jobs.
Point is there's a lot of chavs who don't work and could but just can't be arsed.
Nice cherry picking.
All three are true. There are no jobs to go to for skilled workers.
You also have chavs refusing to work because it's easier for them to sit on benefits and bum it about. I'm all for making sure these people aren't allowed to refuse to work. Where I live there's at least 20 young lads (that I can think of straight off the top of my head) looking for work and can't seem to find any that are in relation to their level of skill and are interviewing for shit jobs and shocking being turned away... But that doesn't change the fact that there are chavs who've been out of work for the last 10 years because it's been easier to fuck it off and refuse to work, or intentionally fuck interviews up so they don't get hired. I used to work in the Co-op and have to sell these people alcohol and cigarettes paid for with benefit money.
For me it's not a matter of saving money there it's just principal. Those that don't even try shouldn't be entitled.
And like Lith said, it all matters what percentage of the repayments are of the GDP. Those articles said they were around £45-70bn a year. So as long as we take much more than that in taxes it's irrelevant what the debt level is.
There is NO reason to be cutting benefits, healthcare and pensions. None at all. Any reason otester can muster is pure bollocks.
More reasons why pensions shouldn't be coming under attack, either.
otester you ought to pick your sources more carefully... Every article, almost, on that page suggests the government should use it's ability to borrow at low interest to fund its way out of this recession and stimulate growth in the private sector. Which is something I was taught in school at 15. The Tories want to destroy the public sector and open the way to let their mates in the private sector take over and profit massively.
Nah Tories wouldn't just go for chavs they'd love to punish single mothers too.
Point is there's a lot of chavs who don't work and could but just can't be arsed. Punish those who refuse to play by the rules, punish those who don't even bother looking for a job. There are plenty of vulnerable people looking for work who would get stung by this - The Tories are incapable of seeing that though because they're totally out of touch with the people of this country.
Bah, ah, let him push all this through and see how he fares in the next elections.
...They think their welfare cuts are politically popular?
Taking money away from the chavs can only be a good thing.
No I agree there... but only if there's job for them to go to. There's no jobs.
It's like me right now if I left uni and tried to sign on they'd force me into the first McDonalds job, even though I'm overqualified so I don't have chance to look for a job more suited to my ability.
My last "dumb" phone was a Sony Ericsson C905. Would last a week from 100% to 0% including playing games, talking, using the camera and shit. Now I have to charge my HTC Desire nightly. That said I can squeeze two days form it...if I don't even look at it hold it or pretend it's not a phone.
The S3 looks like a all round better device than the One X, there. Not shocked to see the "lesser" One S faring better with that dual core snapdragon CPU, either. Also, the fact it has 16GB standard plus space for an SD card is better than not having space for one at all (something that fucked me off about the One X).
I think I have to wait until September before I can upgrade anyway, though :(
was tempted by this samsung but hearing more and more naff things about it. htc one x looks cool but is starting to get too big for my needs.
thinking about nokia lumina or sony experia s... anyone know anything about these phones?
Everyone on the internets is bumming the Nokia Lumia at the moment. From what I can tell it's a single core Windows Phone 7 device that runs exceedingly well for it's specs. There's not much in the way of customisation unless you want to fuck with the registry but it's an all round good phone with a fairly good camera. I wouldn't pay what they're asking for a One X, for the Lumia, though.
Yep, you're definitely the WP7 type.

I have the Galaxy S II and have been very happy with it.
Same, can't wait to have both though.
I've seen it priced in the same league as the One X. Not going to happen. But nah it looks shite. I don't want another single core phone I'm after a One X myself.
I don't know anything about it, but on paper it looks good. Snapdragon dual core, Adreno 225 GPU (quite good). It's a better spec'd phone than the Lumia for sure. But if it's the same price as the One X, that's an even better spec'd phone.
Really good review for mobiles, imho, plus good "price compares" at the bottom of each one looking at contracts and deals and such:

well i'm glad you're still here wolffe. tan would be a lesser place without your inane ramblings. don't worry about 2ghey, he's just a poor british imitation of edmunton's finest retard.
You say that but you don't really mean it. Without me as your verbal punch bag you'd probably ruin your offline relationships taking it out on the missus instead. In that, I'm happier knowing that when you have a bad day you take it out on me and not your girlfriend (or boyfriend?).
I did suggest just restoring his account adn then banning him/changing it's password so he can't log on. But, it appears that wouldn't have stopped him making more accounts and the whole point in that was he didn't want to be here, so kind of moot going to all that effort for him when he'd only bypass it anyway.
Also, yeah bullshit, Wolffe. You just can't stay away.
I don't think Big intends on releasing the API and if I wasn't clear I'm "meh" on a mobile app and "yay" on a mobile site. The site works well enough on my phone but it is broken slightly in parts. The box to add comments lags if you add too much text which kind of puts quoting out there (some mobile versions of sites have a way around this) and the userbar at the bottom shows halfway through the page - basically isn't being set to true 100% and just does the bottom of the viewport. Not a deal breaker but yeah. TAN runs remarkably well to say it has no mobile optimisation at all.
That's going to be awesome. App, so-so, mobile site = win. Looking good, though.
You should open up for suggestion, while you're in the spirit of doing things, minor stuff people would like to see. I'd personally like to be able to add smilies to the list of smilies (admin approved?) as there's a few missing. They could also do with organising. A prettier skin wouldn't go amiss oh and an option to add the thread/post image yourself instead of it always dynamically giving you options based on the tags. Often I've not wanted any of the images it suggests at all (in contrast some of them are apt as fuck, like the jew image in this thread =D).
I dunno about that archiving stuff I kind of like TAN how it is.
I would be happy to wait loner for load times and I think if big could get the RAM usage down we could use something cheaper.
Either way, I said that if big would open dialogue that wasn't "STFU" then I'd donate and he did so I did.
Imho, if we don't sort TAN out for another year then we won't be able to have this debate about what's any good or not. Get it sorted out then we have a whole year to flesh it out, debate and try stuff.
I can't see what benefits a "subscriber" would have that weren't totally shitty on the rest of the users of the site.
proofinlife wrote:
I didn't realize we're being billed for service, could've sworn it was optional donation. I've stated why i won't donate, and im standing by that.
Yeah but looking at the site and given what big says it's not feasible to run it on my host (£80 a year big not £40) and VM's aren't much cheaper than what he's paying now so it seems like TAN gets a good deal, actually.
As for making money... Most threads are majorly big. This has 17 comments at the time of writing and a huge grey space on the left hand side that only has one ad in that space. Would some ppv ads not make sense to place in that space? pay per page view ads would seemingly do is well since we're getting 5-10k hits a month. although I'm fucking clueless on ads so I'm not saying I'm right or anything. Moar ads in the unused space seems legit.

It's going to come back to "it's none of your (or the states) business".
Except that it is and there's fuck all you can do about it.
Depends if you believe people are individuals or slaves.
No it just depends if you live in the UK or not. Do you live in the UK? Ok then, then you have to pay taxes to the government. End of discussion.
This is a debate about what should/shouldn't be, not what is.
Yeah but you give EdRoberts style options.
"Are you a FUCKING FAGGOT or are guns cool?"
"Do you SUCK DICKS or is Bacon pretty nice?"
"Are you an INDIVIDUAL, or a slave?"
Basically, we live in the UK. We pay tax. It's not theft. Pretty clear cut who's going to win the debate when you look at countries that don't have taxation and all the likes and see how well they fare.

there is no way 75 percent isn't absolutely horrifying......being ultra rich doesn't mean anything....fuck you, fuckyoutan
Greedy cunt, this recession is partly caused by too much money behind held by ultra-rich people. Who gives a fuck about the fact that they worked hard? They didn't work harder than the work-hard-for-their money rich guys, so why the bizarre amt. of money?
And you wanting 75% isn't greedy???? HAHAHA!! And yes, most of the "rich" did work for it.
Thank you, didn't quite have the patience to reply myself.
You mean you're too shoddy to articulate a point yourself? Isn't there a child porn debate still raging on that you should be attending to? I think the whole site thinks you're a paedo now.
All I see are people who are too selfish to pay their way and fair share.
They don't owe anyone else anything.
Yeah, fortunately you're wrong.
Let see. Who stands to gain the most from a banking bailout from these two people?
Average Joe who earns £16k a year - has roughly £~3k saved at any point in time.
Rich Man Jack who earns £375k a year and has £1.5million in savings (not including other assets such as houses and investments).
Government can only underwrite £50k of savings.
So, who stands to lose the most? Sure enough a bank liquidation would affect them both but one of them is going to lose out majorly.
Correct Answer: Rich Man Jack is going to lose out the most and stands to gain (retain) the most from a banking bailout.
Nothing wrong with paying your fair share towards the upkeep of the country. If France implements a 75% tax rate that would be fucking justice. The people leaving the country are selfish bastards who weren't any good for it in the first place. If you're only dealing with a country to exploit it and save yourself money you're better off gone.
So, yeah, you're wrong otester. Suck it.
That's not my fucking problem.
Yeah, but it actually is. If the banks went down you'd suffer, problem is the rich people would've suffered much more. Therefore it's fair that they pay more.

Only in bizzaro universe (Europe) could 75% be considered fair. I tell you what.....why don't YOU pay 50% and the rich guy pays 50%. That's fair. Oh, but wait....in Matt world if I have a pie it's fair if I take 75% and you get 25%. Oh well.....the French fucking morons are going to end up paying for all these goodies and campaign promises on their own, because there aren't going to be enough "rich" people to pay for all the fucking handouts. Because as we have seen by the European attitude, you won't fucking work because you don't value it at all................you simply punish those that do. You are mad because they have ambition....and you don't
It is absolutely fucking inane and moronic to think that hard work and working smarter don't factor into climbing the ladder. It would seem to me.....that you people are not worth helping. I have a problem with helping people who refuse to help themselves.
Yeah but you're American and will never be able to see the benefits of a socialist system where your tax money goes towards the greater good.
I don't want any of the fucking pie. I want the money to go into schools, hospitals and infrastructure. How about some spare money for the government to invest into technology that comes license and patent free? No matter the level of pay that's all things everyone can benefit from.
Out of interest. From your wage how much is deducted in taxes and what percentage of what you earn goes into healthcare for you and your family?

He wants it personally? If he did there'd be a greed problem.
The problem is rich business owners who don't earn the amount of money they get. Sure they get where they are by hard work, but I'm ALWAYS reminded of CEO's of large mulitnational companies taking home ludicrous amounts of money a year and ploughing it into offshore tax havens to avoid paying the proper taxes. All the while there are people at the bottom of that corporations ladder struggling to get by who can't afford an accountant to tax avoid for them and have to pay every cent they are due to and stuggle to get by. There's no break for them, they can't afford childcare and have to rely on family members to look after the kids and such. Yet, people like them make ALL the money for the company. Walmart top Exec's rake in millions a year... but puts the products on the shelves? Who scans them through the tills and serves the customers? The people at the bottom of the shit pile.
All I see are people who are too selfish to pay their way and fair share.

Primary Weapon: Assault Rifle with a scope. Seems the most practical Secondary: Crossbow because Daryl on Walking Dead has taught me about silence when it's necessary. Melee: Fucking Katana because that shit cuts through bone and flesh like butter. Gadget: Rope because you never know when it's going to come in useful. The scope on the rifle can come in as a pair of binoculars and I've got a big arse sword to cut shit. You can find torches anywhere. Good rope will be more useful. Vehicle: Tank. No breakable windows and no fucking way into the thing. Get enough speed up and you'd be unstoppable. Plys you've got the main gun of the thing in case of bandits. Shot the first one and word will spread. Teammate: Hard not to go for Terry Crews or Jason Statham... but they're just actors, as is Bear Grylls. So, Oliver Wilde for repopulation and recreation. Also, gives you something to fight for.
Step 1: Refuse austerity, refuse EU bail-out.
