In certain situations. But unless the shotgun is automatic ( which i think should be for military personel) You can only kill a few people before you could be overrun, also doesn't have long range compared to rifles. Your shotgun would be useless against a motivated crowd without weapons. If they had weapons it would end even faster. Now an auto rifle against a crowd would be far more dangerous.
I support the ownership of all guns short of assault rifles. Handguns, rifles are fine. I require licensing, training courses, and strict laws governing who is allowed to use them. Anyone convicted of a serious crime is out. Same as mentally unstable, age under 18. But just because i think ownership of a gun should be ilegal for anyone under 18, i still think that going through the safety coursework someone under 18 could be allowed to use a gun. I think that carrying a concealed weapon is also fine provided they went through the coursework, got a license, registered their gun, And applied for the privilege to conceal their weapon. I Believe that if a weapon is used for a crime and is traced back to the person who registered it, if it hadn't been reported stolen they should be fined, and their privilege to own guns retracted for 1 year minimum, 5 years max. I believe with proper education, training, and in the hands of responsible adults, gun violence would be minimum. Should someone want to own a assault rifle, i could even be persuaded to allow for it, if the person had gone through military training and was enrolled in the reserves. And thats just cause assault rifles, arent practical for anything but war, so if you want one, you should be prepared to use it for what it was intended for.
In the end wolffe i don't disagree with you on a lot of things. My primary concern is that assault rifles or even semi automatic rifles are not appropriate for civilians to have, and that i dont think it's everyones right to own one. I believe it is a privilege that must only be obtained through rigorous safety checks along the way.

Nah dude, its the environment. Minorities aren't any more dangerous than white folk. It has a lot to do with the kind of place it is. In bigger cities you tend to have more violent crime. In the USA they have tons of huge cities and lots of violent crime. Canada has like 1/10 the population. We get violent crime but it is very uncommon in provinces like Saskatchewan where it's cities are all rather small. There is huge differences in violent crime from various population densities.
Just make it so if they they want to sell shit in america, and be based in america, they must follow certain american standards like minimum wage being paid out. And not minimum wage from the particular country they are exploiting, but the wage their workers would have in america. It would discourage those companies from building and manufacturing elsewhere.
But i haven't really thought this through either, there could be loopholes or worse in the above statement.
I read it, and while you attempt to raise some thought provoking ideas and indeed in some cases make a good point, the issue is a lot more complex than how you're laying it out. It's mostly bashing feminism because you can rather than actually being unbiased and thoughtful.

The fact of the matter is that Creationism or Intelligent design is a christian idea. It's not even a scientific theory as there is no way to put it through any kind of tests or peer review since it stems from faith, which is inherently unprovable. Teaching that 'theory' in public school is preferring an aspect or belief of a specific religion over all others which goes against their constitution.
The best trick i've found came from a scientific american magazine. Pull over and stand up and walk around for a minute. It takes a lot of processing power to keep ourselves balanced on two feet. It only last about 20 minutes but it works on me.
We do act naturally. We're animals, and just about everything humans do behavioral wise is natural for our species. Hell even for lots of other ape species. Intelligence doesn't magical make us lose millions of years of evolutionary hard-wiring.

I read a book once called freakanomics, it really opened my eyes to how bendy numbers can be. Sometimes the line between correlation and causation gets blurred.
Thats actually a really good book and i would recommend it to most people. Numbers don't lie, cause they are just numbers, but they can mislead people very quickly without the proper context and knowledge of all contributing factors. Agree 100%
