I'm attempting to gather some information about the vikings for an upcoming tattoo I'll be getting hopefully in the near future.
I fail epically at looking shit up. I think vikings are super badass but I really dont know much about them and I want this tattoo to be as authentic as possible. I doubt any of you will really give a shit about this but maybe if you're bored and want to help my shitty ass out, take a few minutes to post some links or something. I'm looking for some history, some facts about authentic viking attire, weapons, armor, how they built houses, longboats, etc. I love you guys.

i'll see if i can cook up some links later today then, but know this first of all - there were never any horns on viking helmets. they did in fact look quite ridiculous, but at the time i suppose they were at least pretty awesome!
afai can gather from 30 seconds of research this is the only existing helmet from the actual days of vikings.

the modern mythology bit is very uninteresting in my book tho, but lots of people worldwide subscribe to that as being viking
being everyday viking meant making bonfires in longhouses and cook some meat while wearing sheepskin clothing. not too exciting, but very real

Yea I know about the horns thing but I've heard that they might have worn horned helmets during ceremonies and such but that sounds dumb.
I've got the idea down almost exactly how I want it to look but I just want the vikings and the scenery and such to look proper.
