The population of the planet reached seven billion in October last year, according to the United Nations. But what's the figure for all those who have lived before us?
We are nowhere near close to having more alive than dead. In fact, there are 15 dead people for every person living. We surpassed seven billion dead way back between 8000BC and AD1. I read that somewhere.
There are by far more people alive today than have ever lived. I read that somewhere.
I think we read the same thing. Was it one of those pictorial type get-ups that showed how we exponentially outnumber as many people that have ever died?
"The number of homo sapiens who have ever lived, fought, loved, fussed, pottered and finally died over the last 100,000 years is around ninety billion."
Please god don't bring the apocalypse down on us.
