So, it was a resounding success with regard to improving the work-chances of the group in the sector they were being trialed, and not at all an exploitative attempt to cut costs which will be rolled out across the country in a merry-go-round of unpaid new starts. Trebles all round!

You be careful, or your unemployed ass will be stuffed in a private hospital changing dressing on staph infections if you ever decide to look for a job and do something with yourself.

^ As i've always thought, you enjoy the cushy warmth of your mother's arms.
You had the chance to have what you needed. You could have simply told your other employer that you were starting with another job, and they would have had to adjust your hours accordingly. I guess you never think of these things though, hey?

I'd have needed to move friday shift to saturday and the rules for part-timers are 1 shift weekend and 1 shift weekday.

So Mcdonalds emailed back and said you had to work anytime between monday and friday. Was it your retail job that required saturdays? Couldn't you have just moved your mcdonalds shift to sundays, or is a 7 day work week too much?

Retail required both a day on the weekend and one during the week, only way to get through application at McDonalds is to have a completely free week(days).

^ If i were you i would've dropped the part time and went with the full time job. But I am obviously not you nor in the situation where I need to grind between two minimum wage jobs.

Need both to move out.
So I took the alternative route and went self-employed, window cleaning.

^ Well it's like i said months ago, you have options, such as getting A (1) Roommate to halve the costs of everything with. And you don't NEED to live in some huge flat like king nothing. You could've went the cheaper route and looked for a 1 bedroom apt, or a 2 bedroom with a mate, etc. I know you're against roommates after your uni, but sometimes we have to sacrifice comfortability in order to move on with our lives, I'm pretty sure everyone here knows how that works.
Self-employed or under the table? lol atleast you did something with yourself to make money.

Under the table?
The area where I needed the apartment/share (for retail+mcdonalds) was quite expensive but that won't be an issue now, once I've got a big enough round I'll be free.

To be quite fair on otester if I had to have another room mate(s) I'd kill the fucker where they stood. I've decided I don't live with other people very well. One of my last room mates has the advantage of having a disease that caused his blood to clot extremely easily and made a point of mentioning it when he was due a smack in the mouth.
Ok, carry on.

So when you told us you worked at Mcdonalds, did you automatically get a management position? Or maybe you were just the janitor? Clarify this.
EDIT: Oh that's right, you applied at mcdonalds and they never hired you.
Sucks that all those "peasants" are more qualified for one of the most simpleton jobs on this planet, hey?

I got an auto email back that said I'd have to be available anytime Monday-Friday, that wasn't possible with my retail job.
