Oh, if only they were open carrying their arms in their hands at all times with safety off, ready to shoot back at anyone who might shoot them in the back !
The funny thing - if they were unarmed he wouldn't have to shoot them. He would just lock them up in that room and drive off. Take note, Wolffe.

I think there are better alternatives, in this day and age, for security personnel. Not just to guns, but to many aspects of their loosely-defined jobs.
I follow the public's responses to Global and CTV Edmonton... many former and current security guards spoke up about the lack of training they received in their field. Most felt like little more than a "symbol" in crime prevention, not an actual go-to for anyone in need, or prepared to take on any sort of crisis. Many claimed that they didn't feel they needed a gun; they felt that tasers or pepperspray would be more appropriate. There was also a lot of talk of security personnel being grossly underpaid and working terrible shifts... of companies hiring young men or women, who sat texting on their phones through an entire shift. Clearly there's a fundamental flaw in the very outlines of what someone in this field does, and for whom, and when, and how.
Sadly it took a tragedy to get people talking about it. I hope there will be a gravitation away from weapons in this field, and a focus on other training, self defense, and professionalism in service.

^I was a security guard for along time. There is a couple of different kinds of security guards.
The one I worked in I'd consider the:
"Security Guard for Insurance Purposes" - These are the types that contract work out to various companies to provide guard service usually at night. Example: city of edmonton had lots of contracts with my company to guard construction supply yards at night. Shifts were usually 12 hours and I hardly ever got good hours even during the day. I worked a few months where monday to friday I was 6am to 6pm. These types of companies (Paladin Security, Palisade Security, etc) usually recieve low-risk jobs and guards are there more for insurance purposes to the client (I was told if the company has security guards on site when theft happens, it makes their insurance payout bigger or something). Working there I seen all types of people, old grannies, old men, 18 year olds but I was the only bendy. I received zero training and had zero weapons of any kind except a uniform. I would name this type of security as "Family Security" since it's often you'll see an old grandma eating a sandwich while watching dvds for their entire shift.
Others- These are the types that are actually in harms way such as bouncers, peace officers, & security guards that patrol Edmonton Housing neighborhoods. These are the ones most people think of when you say "security". Usually you find taller buff men only filling these positions.
The only security guards in Canada allowed to carry guns are bodyguards for judges & officials, and guards that transport money. The most common one for that is Brinks security. Since I got my license I was extremely close to joining brinks and researched it heavily and talked to people who worked there. As far as I know you need to pass a standard accuracy test to be accepted and the other training is extensive. G4S Security is considered the "bargain bin" of money transport security and up until now I thought they were all unarmed. I don't think anything could have prevented this incident from occurring. It seems the guy just snapped and went psycho.
Anyone working as a guard transporting money certainly will not be texting as the 5 man crews that are in each truck all have roles to play, for example the driver can never leave the vehicle whatsoever, the passenger is the navigator etc. When working in security like I was in, of course I"d be texting or playing games. There aint nothing to do for 12 hours at night.
Thinking back I worked many times in Chancery hall and that other building beside it during the night. I remember sweeping through each floor and checking the kitchens of the government offices to find unlimited supplies of pop, chocolate bars and chips. Those were yummy times.
Edit: Starting off at brinks you make about $20 per hour. Starting off in a company in my line of security -$12-$14 per hour.

You just don't get it do you Nathan? Any sympathy or agreement on ANY point you flushed down the toilet. You are a hypocritical abuser of power and a terribly small person. You don't respect freedom and liberty you narcissistic piece of garbage. You are simply a wounded little man who has a lot of hurt inside of him. I truly do feel sorry for you. You were probably picked on as a kid and how you act now as a young adult is some residual shit that you never were able to work out. What is worse, is that you lash out at the people who could help you the most.....the people that can understand you the best. You don't have any REAL friends do you Nathan? You drive them away don't you? That little ball of pettiness and hate always seems to get in the way doesn't it? You hate it, but it protects you.....makes you feel better, makes you feel a little more powerful than you really are. I don't hate you Woolfe.........I pity you.

Not exactly the sort of people you want transporting millions of dollars.
I've noticed military coups usually involve Lieutenants and Colonels... not Generals. Kenya was once overthrown by a Private. It's usually the guys who aren't well paid or trained that you have to watch.

I think better screening and evaluations might help. It's hard to catch random people who live in their basement and go psycho, but some professions should have more oversight. I know you can't be perfect (police have very high homicide and suicide rates), but I think you can work to prevent incidents such as these.

Nathan is a nickname for Jonathan. You see Eric.......we only get to see Nathan. Nathan is that little ball of hate I was talking aboot. Nathan is the one who makes Johnathan sit in his room and feel sorry for himself for not having a job. Nathan is the one that says bad things to Johnathan's friends and drives them away. Even Woolfe's little alternate? You know HOT DOG JOHNNY? Still Nathan. (Nathan's hot dogs?) Even when Woolfe tries to create this alternate......Nathan gets in the way. Nathan MUST DIE. Until that happens, Johnathan is going to be a sad, petty person who will blame socialism, freemasons and whatever else he can to divert blame and responsibility from "Nathan". It's a survival mechanism.
