and plain old bad drivers.
I would be totally into automated driving, since most of the driving I do doesn't involve long stretches of highway, its mostly stop and go traffic or side streets.
this solves a lot of problems.

I'm not sure how it will all work, but couldn't some people make some sort of device that messes up the automated detection system or whatever? Could see them going to some heavy traffic area and using the device, which ends up causing some huge wrecks...
As interesting as it would be, I could just see so many things going wrong, unless they've thought of every little thing that could work against it.. <_<

it would be cool to be able to turn on autopilot, then you could go to the bar, get hammered, and not pay for a fucking taxi....and it should be mandatory for any old people, girls, brown people, or pretty much anyone but myself and few others like me with far superior driving skills
edit: in fact the way the machine drives would most likely have to be modeled as best as they can after my own driving expertise. no computer could ever match it, but if it became close we would eliminate accidents all together, and not have to drive as such ridiculously slow speeds

isn't there an increasing trend in taking your car to the track? isolated side streets are still cool to punch it in.
