OH jesus. So what's her point. Once again she is singling out extremists. Also people who are strongly atheist are not really atheist but mostly anti-religion. It's foolish to not understand the role religion plays. Also I can tell this is a chick writing this. She is just angry. Her angry is just a product of being horny. Like all women.

Most atheists don't give a fuck if you believe in flying pigs, unicorns, or super happy flying popcorn in citadels of movie theatres and fast food for your fat fucking assholes. We just don't like how religious people are smug. If their hell is real they are the ones going to hell not the atheists, which is ironic.

^Most people who call themselves atheists do care. They care to attack religion. Religion is more aboot a code of behavior than the writings. Also if you want smug just look at Richard Dawkins.

What the fuck is with you retards and your silly notion that if you aren't religious, you're athiest. I'm agnostic. It means that I get to be way more of a sanctimonious prick and point out the one flaw in the entire goofy debate. There is no proof of God either way so just shut the fuck up and keep your shit to yourself.
Seriously, I don't believe in God, but i'll give the benefit of the doubt usually just to not get into arguments with morons about the whole thing. Until you find proof, leave me alone.
I agree with most of what this chick says though but i'll add that athiests need to realize they can't win their argument without proof and even then you'll still have a bunch of retards saying it's a test of faith. The best the non religious people should attempt for is to limit the power the church holds. All churches, all denominations. None of them should have any say in political debates, issues, bills, or even issues of morality since none of them ever practice what they preach. Bunch of no good do-gooders.

It is true. Atheism requires faith, and not many athiests seem too agree with that concept. Thinking, atheism is the belief in NOTHING allowing it to be believed in without faith, because it is 'faith in nothing'.

Ganj, you're totally wrong, again. This is becomming a trend that you should be worried about. Belief is a yes-no, on-off, 1-0 thing.
To have belief, you have to believe in something, lets call it x. If you have belief, x=1, if not x=0. Whether that something is a god, a host of gods, a talking cabbage or the latest ipod it doesn't matter, in your mind x is real. When you don't, x = 0. You can not believe in 0.
What I can believe in is the fact that anthropology can prove(yes, I said prove) that religion has had its own evolution, all the way back to the sun and the moon. Now, if that can be proven, how could either of the "big three" have any credibility? The answer is, they don't. The only reason anyone believes in the god lie, apart from brain washing started at a very young age, is because they literally don't know any better. You can pick either of the big three and find that they all subverted knowledge, from burning books, whole libraries even, to the iconoclasts, to withholding the skill of reading, to blowing up statues, to even making the mere showing of allah a sin, it's all to keep people in the dark. For all we know, allah was a Chinese snake-oil salesman.
As for the author being angry, she had some valid points but I didn't read them all 'cos I got bored. You have to forgive some atheists for what seems like anger, depending on where they are with it. It's a pretty big step to throw off the baggage your family or friends have and at first you want to shout it out, you simply cannot understand how anyone in their right mind could believe such bullshit. Then you read things that affirm your convictions, and arm you with compelling arguments against a gods existence so you want to use them. You could be a quotes person, so you'll learn a few and drop those in any chance you get. Once your incredulity levels drop, you can forgive people for doing retarded things "in the of god", or if not forgive, understand that the shackles of stupidity are too strong to break for many.
If there isn't one already, I'd love to write an "Atheism for Dummies" book, but in the meantime, there's ton of videos out there for budding realists. "Ask and you shall receive"

wow that bitch is angry. she probably needs a good shag.
was a good read tho, never knew about the fish stickers eating darwinism. But for sure this bandwagon, and its billions of sheep is an aging institution. I think the comment about kids implicitly trusting adults, and being brainwashed with parental religious belief, coupled with schooling that propogates the belief continues.

I am not attempting to dis-credit your knowledge of religion, but the concept is quite simple.
belief that x=1 <---its a belief (theism) belief that x=0 <---also a belief (atheism) belief that x=? <---may or may not be a belief depending on the person (agnosticism)
You do not have 100% evidence that god does not exist, but you still believe that he does not exist, that requires faith.
Pardon me for using your x reference in a different way than you.

You're not getting this, are you? for a guy with a gigantic head, you aren't very bright. I've explained it as simply as I can. There's tons of evidence that god doesnt exist, you just aren't accepting it. All we know of god comes from written scriptures, all of which have been totally debunked, therefore the word of god is a lie, therefore he is not a god, therefore he does not exist.

All hail anthropology! Unfortunately, this means that of all the current deluded religious flavors - the neopagans are closer to the genesis of human religious experience. The veneration of time, seasons and celestial bodies. Okay, neopagans had to destroy earth-based religion by inserting fairies and vampires and other gay shit, but appreciation and awe of the natural world is as old as we are.

^ I think you guys are splitting hairs. I agree with Ganj in that agnostics decide if it's a belief or not. My belief is you just don't know, so why bother, go and enjoy yourself. I agree like 99% with Scobie's theory too though. I've seen enough movies like Zeitgeist and such to know they might be onto something what with the whole Horus thing and all that. But, I'll allow the one percent of possibility just to stay humble.

brilliantly put. And I wanna know what an atheist meeting is. Do they sit around and not pray. Or do they sit around and talk about the non-existence of God. It doesn't even make sense.

If an alien came to earth today, without any knowledge of our arcane beliefs in a magical dead sky daddy, and with no belief in a god himself, someone would probably explain it to him. After he did the equivalent of laughing his fucking tits off, he'd get back in his craft and fuck off. Now, before he heard about god, he wouldn't have had a belief that god didn't exist, and if you asked him, he'd have thought it was a stupid fucking question. Does the fact that he found out others have a belief in a god magically give him a belief where he had none before? No, nothing changes
That's the way I view it, it isn't a hypothesis I subscribe to, a non-issue. People who don't believe in god but think that's still a belief are fooling themselves, it means that they can't live without a belief system just yet, and I'd say they're still hanging on to whatever religion they came from. Like I said earlier, before you totally misused my argument (belief that x=1 <---its a belief...belief that x=0 <---also a belief? Seriously? you premised it with "belief that", it's fundamentally flawed thinking), it's digital, 1 or 0. If you're sill stuck at 1, you still believe in god, sorry to break it to you, god-boy.
As for ARMageddon, the only atheist meetings I ever heard about were trying to tackle the problems the pervasiveness of religion was causing in society, like the limiting of stem cell research, or the teaching of creationism in schools. Atheists sit around and "not pray" all the time on their own, I don't see why they'd need to do it in groups, unless they're trying to prove something.

x = 0 is the equivalent to saying x does not exist. read your calc 1 text book. it is not a belief, it is the remaining option when anyone finds that x does not equal any real numbers.

^^Actually 0 does exist. Don't you know your Sesame street / Cookie Monster logic? Zero is a real number, so if you have Zero cookies, you still have them. And they are tasty too.

^It's simple. With consciousness, and an ability to understand something you must have a way to draw a line. Religion gives you that line. It's a division of thinking. Not everyone in the world can or should be a high level thinker. Some people should be focused on smaller things. Religion allows that for people. For example look at Fateri. He says he's atheist but he more likely just is anti-social and doesn't know it. Someone like him should have religion as religion would set boundaries for him. He has no need to study philosophy so it is better for him to believe there is a big man in the sky as it makes it simple, and woul make it easier for him to focus on things within his understanding. It's just a little belief some people have. Sure some take it too far but that doesn't mean it's completely ridiculous.

I am not attempting to dis-credit your knowledge of religion, but the concept is quite simple.
belief that x=1 <---its a belief (theism)
belief that x=0 <---also a belief (atheism)
belief that x=? <---may or may not be a belief depending on the person (agnosticism)
You do not have 100% evidence that god does not exist, but you still believe that he does not exist, that requires faith.
Pardon me for using your x reference in a different way than you.

This:
Makes more sense than "God."

I think you guys are splitting hairs.

IT's by no means obvious that the natural state of lifeforms is to believe in bullshit.

I'm not really sure you're making sense, and if I get what you're trying to say, it has nothing to do with what anyone has said on this thread. Stop trying to make sense and go back to being a trolling faux-haxz0r and annoy scout, at least that's entertaining.
