Rudd's govt has been spending money like crazy on the economic stimulus package. Just about everyone in Aust got money out of it, some got thousands just because they have kids. Me, I got nothing while everyone around me got it all. I hate it how ppl with kids get special treatment just because they have kids. FFs that shit pisses me off.

@coneofsilence the moral of the story have kids, and lots of them. I didn't get the bonus as well, but i see why they are doing it. because the biggest spenders in the economy are families with kids, that generally why singles are better off than people with kids. raising kids cost about $400000 until about the age of 18, and these people are providing more workers into the workforce with skills that they contribute to the economy, so the money is going in the right place. but what people are doing with this money is that they are paying off their debts, because that would be the fucking smart thing to do, if you loose your job in the worsening economic environment. for all its worth i think Kevin is doing a good job given the climate that he has to work in.

As a nation we only just in the last 10 years finished paying off the debt accumulated during the 1920's, how long is this debt going to take to pay off, will it be generations.

@cone i know that the stimulus package hasn't helped that much at all. i have always maintained that the government need to start construction jobs all around Australia to get things moving. that way the money the workers get will be spent on local things and the resources used to make all the building projects will most likely all come from aus as well.

I think the money could have been better spent, for example employing more centerlink staff, upgrading the coast guard or putting even more into infrastructure. They could have even distributed some of the money to the states on the condition they use it for health care and hospital upgrades. I just think giving the money to ppl for a quick spending spree is not a wise decision, it should have been invested in long term employment.
