And people to the left are brainless dreamers. - seems we are all idiots and its the mix of idiots that produce a somehow functioning society. wonderful aint it?
There is merit to both sides. Once people stop acting like their way is the only way real progress can be achieved.
haha that may be true or not - what if both sides dont propagandize the 'enemy'? then the benefits of both arguements wont be heard and for someone to argue effectively they have to be convinced of the accuracy of their subject material first.

Usually when you use propaganda against an enemy the truth is obscured or misrepresented. However you can also use propaganda to simply spread you own message or cause, which would mean that both arguments will still be heard without the need to attack one another. You can still have debates on subjects because people will have differing opinions, and one persons idea of what is right isn't necessarily the only right answer. You can be convinced of the accuracy of you subject and fight for it, but sill have an open mind to different solution, knowing that you are not all knowing, and could be wrong. The problem with the party system is regular people believe that they don't have to pay attention to most issues because they are either from one party or another, and they will generally only vote for that particular party. If they don't like their parties choice for leader they may simply decide not to vote. I believe most people are more complicated in their beliefs to be placed into a single party of either the left or the right. I, for example am a very liberal person when it comes to many individual rights, however when i look at government economic policy and business, i tend to lean much more towards the conservative side. Because of this i have to pay attention to politics, especially during the lead up to a new prime minister. This makes me a better informed voter, and even though as of now i've only voted conservative, i was very close to voting for the liberals last time because of Harpers stance on drug policy. The main thing that stopped me was Stephane Dion would have made a terrible leader.
The point is i guess, that if you only listen to one side of the argument, and then listen to that sides propaganda towards the other, you're getting at best a skewed image of what that party is actually working for, at worst you don't even know what they are working for and don't care.
