I find Win7 lasts longer, I needed to reformat XP every year or so, so far to date I've only had to reformat once because I opened a suspicious file which I should have scanned first (my fault) and had Win7 running well since its first beta incarnation, now on RTM (same as retail but without the junk).

Ubuntu is ok but if you use a lot of windows applications, you will find a lot of compatibility problems, wine isn't flawless.
I love ubuntu, but was disheartened because there wasn't a version of my favourite game that would play properly in it, with or without wine, so I ditched it in favour of xp again... But, then lightness entered my life in the form of Loki's ported Civ: CTP, and Ubuntu was restored to its rightful place!
I swear to the little baby Jesus, the only reason I bought a PC all those many many years ago was so I could play Civilisation... and its still pretty much the only line of games I play.
^ lol same, new one's out on the 21st, best be good. also it best work in wine, god knows i had to wait like 2 years for beyond the sword to work in wine. lol
^ i use utorrent, works good. i did make a script so i can open torrents in utorrent rather than having to save them to a folder. either way, it works good

Counts me out automatically then and the majority of people.
Even if you're a workaholic, a good game of something is great every now and then.
