This will be a new opinion style poll where instead of voting for answers I give you, you'll just answer yourself in the comments and we'll discuss it. THE QUESTION: You get married and have a son. Your son is 8 years old. You, your wife, and your other children pull up to the schoolyard to pick your 8 year old son up and you see him in the field standing near a bigger kid. The bigger kid is bullying him, hitting your 8 year old son. You watch as your 8 year old son, obviouisly scared, cowers and doesn't fight back whatsoever and gets knocked to the ground. Fearing your son might be a coward for the rest of his life. What would you do (as the father) ?
But in this situation you cant do that, kids already down. Naturally I break it up there, and ask my son what was up, why he didnt try to defend himself, talk him up let him know its ok that he didnt fight back but one day he will have to. AS a parent i notify the Principle. Bullying stops when either someone stands up to it or nips it in the bud.
Just yesterday my son was involved in an altercation on the bus, this kid was bothering him so he told the bus driver, kid still bothered him so they got into it. I was mad he got into the fight but proud he tried to get it resolved without violence, unfortunately it did end up that way-ish. Fear that my son is a coward? I dunno if you can classify the actions as that at that young of an age, now if the boy were 15 and the shit went down, most likely a different story, id be mad that he isnt going to stand up for himself, asswhooping or not, stand up for yourself. Worst case scenario?: He can learn a martial discipline for defense but not so he can bully in turn.
Other than that i dont have fears of that, im kinda rough round the edges and my kids are gonna pick up on some of that, even if its just in toughness.

And I wouldn't kick your ass.

Put him in boxing or another aggressive attack based discipline. I would avoid karate as most kids that take karate get their ass whipped.
good luck.

ugh, anyway I would have to quickly calm myself down. I would jump out of the car, grab the kid by the arm and escort him into the school office and demand they do something about this. On the way to the office I would make it more than clear to the little bastard to keep their hands off my kid. If it were really severe, I'd call the kids parents, but lets face it, in most cases that will get you no where, because their probably an even bigger neanderthal. My daughter has got picked on on the bus and such. I called the school and it was taken care of.
Where did this come from Wolfe? You don't have kids, do you?
