I need some tutorials on how to use mod_perl with apache.
I'm looking to completely ditch PHP and go for Perl and mod_perl for an upcoming project. Because I've never done Perl programming and fucking hate (and suck at) object-oriented (although Perl really doesn't seem all that OO heavy) I need some tutorials to get me started on web/server programming with Perl (no problems with the language itself). I've mostly used a hotchpotch of PHP scripts and modified them, wrote my own scripts around them, and other clumsy stuff before, but now that I'm thinking of writing something from the scratch (and trying to do something proper), I feel like trying something else. At least Perl modules (which I hear there is a lot of) should be cleaner than ducktaping PHP scripts into a big ball of pain...
Who knows, I might learn to like it. Considering I'm not going to write a server in C (at least not for HTTP stuff), I need to find a web programming language that suits me. Lua was kind of cool, and I've even tried Pawn/Small C which was cool (C on the web!), but I'm not doing CGI any more (maybe
FastCGI, but I'd rather not). At least Perl seems to have a lot less clutter, so I might be able to brute force in just on simplicity. Less risk of me making stupid mistakes.
I already have XAMPP up and running (Linux vm if I need it, Windows should be fine for now), only thing missing are some tutorials, dos and don'ts, introduction, etc. Perl already has good documentation (then again, language isn't all that difficult to document), mod_perl not so much.
Either that or I'm looking in the wrong places.
